Camp Matty

August 7-10, 2017

Camp Matty is a therapeutic horseback riding program designed for children with epilepsy. The day camp affords children with epilepsy the opportunity to learn to horseback ride in a safe environment with trained personnel supported by parents and volunteers. Horseback riding is considered a uniquely beneficial form of therapy. The physical benefits of muscle strengthening and improved coordination are paralleled by the social and psychological benefits of the program. The activities are designed to foster a sense of teamwork and friendship among the children. Camp Matty also has tremendous impact on the parents and caregivers who accompany their children each day of the camp. They focus on their children having fun in a safe and accessible environment and connect to other parents who share similar life experiences.

EFNE Purple Camp Financial Aid Policy

It is the policy of the Epilepsy Foundation New England, The Purple Camp to provide financial assistance to applicants who request it whenever possible. The intent of this policy is accomplished by setting fees at rates affordable to the majority of residents in the four state region we serve, and by providing financial assistance to those for whom The Purple Camp fees are not affordable. Summer Camp Scholarships are given out based on financial need, and distributed on a first come, first served basis until all scholarship funds are depleted. Once your application has been processed we will inform of you within 14 days of scholarship availability.

Please note that financial assistance is a limited fund, and funds will be disbursed based on applicant’s financial need. Both partial, and full scholarships are available. Receipt of scholarship award(s) in previous years does not determine eligibility for current summer camp year. Partial Camp scholarships may be awarded due to high demand for assistance and the remaining balance will be due 7 days before the session.  If the partial scholarship amount isn’t enough financial assistance, and your child will not be attending camp, please notify us 14 days prior to the session.
